The oboist Ivan Podyomov, laureate of the first prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition 2008, the second prize at the International ARD Music Competition in Munich 2007, winner of the international oboe competitions in Karuizawa (Sony), Japan 2009 and Markneukirchen 2010, was born in 1986 in Arkhangelsk (Russia). He commenced his musical education at the Gnessin Russian School of Music in Moscow studying with Ivan Pushetchnikov and graduating in 2006. Since then Ivan has been studying with Maurice Bourgue at the Geneva Conservatory.
Ivan Podyomov has performed as soloist with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Collegium Musicum Basel, the Chamber Academy Potsdam, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic, the Capella Istropolitana or the Camerata Hamburg. In 2009 he gave his debut for Deutschlandradio Kultur in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
As soloist and chamber musician Ivan Podyomov has played at many music festivals including the Prague Spring, the Brandenburg Summer Concerts, the ARD Chamber Music Festival, Central European Music Festival, Ticino Musica, as well as in France, the UK, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Russia. Also, Ivan does recordings for radios and often plays as guest principal oboist with various orchestras throughout Europe.
His appearances in 2010 include a recital in the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, performances with the Neubrandenburg and the Hof Philharmonic Orchestras and at the Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as an invitation to give the masterclasses at the oboe festival in Xi’an, China.
